  • Trinasolar’s Vertex N Shield series TOPCon module has received ‘Comprehensive Reliability Award’ from TÜV Rheinland

  • It features up to 25% thicker glass and frames with ‘innovative’ design compared to standard counterparts

  • This award is based on the result of reliability test sequences that include thermal cycling, mechanical stress test, humidity freeze, UV exposure, damp heat, and potential induced degradation

Trinasolar’s Vertex N Shield series TOPCon module, a part of its “Shield extreme climate solution”, tailored for extreme environmental events, has earned the “Comprehensive Reliability Award” from TÜV Rheinland. The award ceremony was held at 11th “All Quality Matters” Solar & ESS Congress 2025, organized by the latter, a third-party inspection and certification agency.

One of the key features of this commercially available dual-glass module, according to Trinasolar, is the use of up to 25% thicker glass compared to standard alternatives, improving the module’s resistance to external impact energy by up to 2.5 times. In addition, the design of the frames, which the company described as ‘innovative’, increases its mechanical load-bearing capacity either static or dynamic. However, the company didn’t quantify these improvements.

Trinasolar says its module has gone through 5 different stress tests under TÜV Rheinland to prove its reliability. The tests— thermal cycling (TC), mechanical load and dynamic stress test, humidity freeze (HF) and UV exposure, damp heat (DH), and PID (potential induced degradation)—measure module performance in a specific area, like temperature changes or mechanical strength.

The manufacturer claims that its module scored 94 out of a total of 100, outperforming other competing modules, under these tests.

Trinasolar’s Director of Global Cell and Solar Product Management, Lei Gao said, “It has been ten years since Trinasolar began advancing TOPCon technology in 2015. Our TOPCon module winning the 2025 ‘Comprehensive Reliability Award’ is a great recognition of us. Trinasolar will continue to provide more reliable products and solutions for customers.”

In June 2025, this module was recognized as ‘High Achiever’ in multiple categories of stress tests, including TC600, DH2000, SDML, and PID, by another third-party certification agency - RETC.
