The Secretariat of Electric Power in Argentina has launched a call for interested bidders for solar system installation and power supply for 281 public, national and provincial buildings in 19 provinces of the country.
Under the Program for Renewable Energies in Rural Markets (PERMER) program, the Ministry of Energy plans to install solar systems for national highway camps, border posts of the Argentine Army, national gendarmerie posts, national parks shelters, rural schools, health centers in rural regions and police buildings with an investment of $22 million.
Solar facilities thus installed will be expected to supply uninterrupted and quality electricity supply, benefiting 11,826 people who work daily in these public institutions located far-off from the main electricity distribution network of the country, it added. It will also help diversify its electricity mix.
"The Project makes it possible to provide reliable and safe electricity for fundamental institutions in isolated areas throughout the national territory, to contribute to improving the quality of life and the development of thousands of Argentines," said the Undersecretary of Electric Power, Frederic Basualdo.
The 19 provinces where these projects need to be set up are identified as Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Chaco, Chubut , Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, Jujuy, La Pampa, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, San Juan, Santa Cruz, Santiago del Estero, Tierra del Fuego and Tucumán.
Government will fund the projects using proceeds from a loan granted by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to finance the cost of projects under PERMER regime.
Last date to submit bids is April 8, 2022. Further details about the call are available on the government's website.
