Washington, US headquartered energy utility Avista has opened a request for proposal (RFP) round seeking to procure clean energy capacity as part of its goal to have 100% clean electricity by 2045 and 100% carbon neutral resources by 2027.

Avista said it is an all-source RFP to enable it to meet capacity and energy shortfalls between 2026 and 2030. Additionally, it needs around 196 MW of electricity during winters and 190 MW in the summer by 2030 to ensure reliability. "As part of this RFP, Avista may bid repowering resources and/or Avista self-builds into the RFP. Avista will utilize an Independent Evaluator to participate in the design and assist in evaluating proposals," stated the utility.

Acceptable power generation technologies are wind, solar, biomass, hydroelectric, natural gas, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen. Energy management solutions are also sought from pumped storage, batteries and demand response.

RFP is open to bidders who currently own, propose to develop or hold rights to resources meeting its energy and capacity requirements.

Proposals will be accepted till March 25, 2022, according to tender details on its website.
