US Utility Seeking Energy Resources Proposals, Including Solar, For Consumers In Southwest Indiana

Texas, US based electricity and natural gas utility CenterPoint Energy has launched an all-source request for proposals (RFP) for renewables, storage, thermal, demand-side resources and short-term capacity especially in years 2023-2025, through CenterPoint Energy Indiana South.

The call is open to wind, solar, battery storage, thermal and demand-side resources, and short-term capacity to meet the future needs of its 150,000 electric customers in Southwestern Indiana.

For renewables, projects can include both wind and solar along with storage in paired and standalone applications, thermal, hydrogen nuclear and other resources, among others.

Selected projects can be contracted under power purchase agreements (PPA), asset purchases including projects in development, demand side contracts and capacity only contracts.

Proposals received will enable the utility identify additional generation technologies that can provide fully accredited capacity no later than March 1, 2027. It will also help CenterPoint Energy Indiana South frame its Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process that's due to begin later this year which will set the direction of the utility's future generation and demand side options.

Launched on May 11, 2022, proposals can be submitted latest till July 5, 2022, as per the schedule published on the RFP website.
