DEWA has opened an IPP advisory services tender for a large-scale solar and storage project
It will sport 1.6 GW of solar PV and a 1,000 MW BESS component with 6 hours of storage capacity
Proposals in response to the tender will be admitted till December 17, 2024
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a tender seeking independent power producer (IPP) advisory services for a 1.6 GW solar PV power plant accompanied by a 1,000 MW/6-hour battery energy storage system (BESS).
The tender is open to both local and international companies. The latter need to submit the names of their local partners/sponsors with a valid Dubai Trade License, according to the brief tender announcement.
DEWA launched the tender on November 14, 2024. It will accept proposals till December 17, 2024. Details of tender no. 2122400124 are available on its website.
One of DEWA’s major solar initiatives is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (MBR Solar Park) in Dubai. Being developed as the largest single-site solar park in the world, it will have a 5 GW production capacity by 2030. The AED 50 billion park is being developed in phases, 5 of which are complete and operational with 2.86 GW of solar PV and concentrated solar power (CSP) capacity.
The 6th phase with 1.8 GW solar PV capacity is due to come online between 2024 and 2026 (see Financial Close Achieved For 1.8 GW Dubai Solar Power Plant).
