The DVC has launched a competitive solicitation process for 234 MW AC solar PV capacity
This needs to be installed as a floating PV project on the Maithon Dam Reservoir
Selected bidders will be expected to also provide 10-year comprehensive O&M
India’s state-owned utility Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) seeks to implement a grid-tied floating solar PV plant with 234 MW AC capacity on its Maithon Dam Reservoir in Jharkhand’s Maithon.
The Maithon Dam Reservoir was inaugurated in 1957 on river Barakar. It is located about 48 km from the coal city of Dhanbad. According to the Jharkhand government, the dam has an underground power station which is one of its kind in Southeast Asia.
For interested bidders, the broad scope of work involves design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the project, along with 10 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M).
Interested bidders must have a cumulative installed capacity of 100 MW AC or higher of ground-mounted or floating solar PV systems. Out of this, at least 2 projects should have been of 10 MW AC or higher capacity, and in operation for at least 6 months.
The tender specifies that the cells and modules to be used for the project must come from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I.
The DVC launched this tender on December 2, 2024 on the Indian government’s e-procurement website with a tender ID of 2024_DVC_217302_1. Bids can be submitted till January 7, 2025.
In October 2024, DVC launched a 10 MW AC grid-tied floating solar PV project tender to be installed on the Raw water Reservoirs of Chandrapura Thermal Power Station in Jharkhand’s Bokaro (see Indian State Agencies Roll Out Ground Mounted & Floating Solar Tenders).
