The coastal state of Goa in India is keen on increasing its solar power capacity and is on the lookout for solar power developers who can set up grid connected floating solar power plants on 4 of its dams on a design-build-finance-operate (DBFO) model for 25 years.
The Department of New and Renewable Energy (DNRE) in Goa wants these floating PV projects for the state's Salaulim, Amthanem, Anjunem and Chapoli dams with an aim to have solar power generation in the state as well as use panels to conserve water from evaporation. This would also leave requisite land to be used for other purposes.
According to the expression of interest (EOI) launched, DNRE said it will assist in providing requisite area at all 4 dams from the state's Water Resource Department (WND). Power generated will be contracted under power purchase agreement (PPA) between the developer and the Department of Electricity Goa (EDG) for which DNRE will assist the former.
Last date of submitting the EOI was originally September 30, 2021 but it has now been extended to October 25, 2021 as per a corrigendum issued by the DNRE.
