  • Bundesnetzagentur has announced the launch of a new tender bidding round for 1.95 GW solar PV
  • It needs to be installed as utility scale projects to be built on arable land and grassland in disadvantaged areas
  • Tariffs have been capped at €0.0737/kWh after the agency increased the same recently

Germany's Bundesnetzagentur or the Federal Network Agency is seeking bidders for 1.95 GW utility scale solar PV capacity to be built on arable land and grassland in disadvantaged areas, capping the bids at €0.0737/kWh.

This ceiling tariff was fixed for ground mounted PV system tenders by the agency last week to encourage increased participation in the competitive process by developers (see Germany Caps Ground Mounted PV Tender Tariff At €0.0737/kWh).

Bids need to be submitted latest by March 1, 2023. Details are available on the agency's website.

With 1.95 GW already out for bidding in the 1st month of 2023, the agency has tendered 1/3rd of the bid volume of 5.85 GW it intends to award in 2023.

Next year in 2024, the agency will target to auction 8.1 GW solar PV capacity throughout the year, followed by 9.9 GW for each year between 2025 to 2029. Bidding deadlines for all these planned auctions are March 1, July 1 and December 1 of the respective year, according to the Renewable Energy Sources Act 2023 (EEG 2023).
