  • GRIDCO has issued an RFP to hire a consultant for ESIA of a 225 MW floating solar project at Upper Indravati reservoir

  • The project will be developed in 3×75 MW units, with power supplied by selected solar developers

  • The consultant must deliver ESIA, ESMP, and livelihood plans within 180 days, covering all project phases

The Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) is looking to hire a consultant to provide consultancy services for Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for a 225 MW Upper Indravati Floating Solar Project.

The project is planned to be located over the Upper Indravati reservoir in 3 units of 75 MW each of grid-connected floating PV capacity. Power generated will be supplied to GRIDCO by solar developers to be selected by the agency. It will be called the Upper Indravati Solar Park.

In December 2025, GRIDCO launched a request for proposals (RFP) round for a 225 MW AC floating PV project over Upper Indravati Reservoir.

Through this call, GRIDCO seeks to assess the project development and associated evacuation infrastructure on site. The selected consultant will be required to conduct an ESIA of the proposed project and prepare an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) along with a Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP).

The consultant will also identify, predict, and assess potential environmental and social impacts of the project components and associated facilities during pre-construction, construction, operations, and decommissioning phases within the project’s primary and secondary area of influence.

The selected consultant will be required to complete the work within 180 days from the submission of the proposal.

GRIDCO launched the call on April 29, 2026. It will accept proposals by June 3, 2026. Details are available on its website.

Odisha’s dams/reservoirs are estimated to hold over 10 GW of solar PV potential. Of this, Upper Indravati can host 1 GW capacity.
