Italy has launched a new agrivoltaics tender with a budget of over €323.4 million
Selected projects that come online by June 30, 2026 will be funded under RRF
Applications will be admitted till June 30, 2025; a webinar is planned on April 4
Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), the Italian energy agency, has announced another agrivoltaics tender in Italy with a budget of over €323.4 million ($356.5 million). In the previous round, the agency awarded 1.548 GW of agrivoltaic capacity.
Since the previous round did not exhaust the €1.7 billion funds allocated to support 1.04 GW of agrivoltaic capacity in Italy by the European Commission under Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the GSE says it has ‘reopened’ the terms for the selection of projects to award incentives as approved under the Agrivoltaics decree.
Under the decree, Italy plans to award a total of €1.7 billion to support commercial operations of at least 1.04 GW of new agrivoltaic capacity by June 30, 2026 (see Italy Publishes Decree For Agrivoltaic Deployment).
While the previous round exceeded the capacity tendered, the funds were not exhausted.
The availability of these financial resources in the latest round will be subject to factors such as waivers, revocations, or readmissions as per the terms specified in the decree. The winning projects in the initial round will not be admitted to this round.
GSE launched the tender on April 1, 2025. It will admit applications till June 30, 2025. A webinar is scheduled on April 4, 2025 for interested participants.
Agrivoltaics, agrisolar, agriPV and other similar terms define solar power projects installed on agricultural land with an aim of dual use of land as an energy generator and an agricultural producer. Analysts at the IEA-PVPS in a recent report said that agrivoltaics is the standard term for such installations (see IEA-PVPS Finds Agrivoltaics Most Standard Term For Solar+Agri Projects).
