The Nicaraguan Company of Aqueducts and Sanitary Sewer (ENACAL) wants solar power for the operation of its systems. It is seeking interested companies to bid for an 18.23 MW ground-mounted solar PV plant.

The winner will be required to set up the solar power plant with all offers to be submitted offline. Selections will be made based on procedures laid down by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

The state-owned water utility ENACAL is the primary supplier of sanitary sewer services in Nicaragua, serving both rural and urban regions. The tender documents do not specify the location or timeline of the solar power plant.

The utility launched the tender on September 27, 2023, and will accept bids till November 13, 2023. Details are available on its website

According to BNAmericas, ENACAL had earlier launched a tender for 15 MW solar power plant and selected Spain's Consorcio Solec as the winner. However, it cancelled the tender due to the requirement related to energy storage.

It says ENACAL has now re-tendered the 15 MW tender whose proposals are required to come in by November 2023.
