Power distribution company in the Philippines, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has announced a 850 MW AC renewable energy tender inviting interested companies via an expression of interest (EOI) round.

Back in January 2022, the company had launched an EOI for 850 MW renewable capacity, inviting players to challenge PHP 6.08 per kWh bid offered by Terra Power for 2.5 GW solar and 4,000 MWh storage, which did not materialize according to local media reports with no bids coming in (see Philippines: 850 MW Renewables Tender).

In the fresh EOI, Meralco has stated pretty much the same rules of 600 MW capacity to come online by February 26, 2026 and remaining 250 MW by February 26, 2027. Entire capacity will be contracted for a period of 20 years from the commissioning date.

Power supply should be available 100% for 6 to 13 hours daily covering Meralco's peak hours which would be from 8.00 AM to 9.00 PM.

Launched on April 19, 2022, last date to submit EOIs is May 2, 2022 and bid submission deadline June 6, 2022. Further details on Meralco's website.

Earlier this year, the Philippines' Department of Energy launched its 1st round of green energy auction for 2 GW capacity (see Philippines: 2 GW Renewable Energy Tender).
