CleanCo Gauging Investor Interest For Wind & Solar Power For Australian State’s Energy Transformation

The low-carbon energy generator owned by the State of Queensland in Australia, CleanCo has invited expression of interest (EOI) for 3 GW wind and solar power generation capacity. 

According to the call, this includes project development acquisitions, joint venture investments and offtake agreements. It will expand the company's portfolio to support customers to achieve their sustainability goals and advance the state's energy transformation, it added. 

In a LinkedIn post, CleanCo CEO Tom Metcalfe said, "We're looking for renewable energy and firming projects that will help us reach our 2030 goals and contribute to Queensland's clean energy future." 

Applications for the EOI launched on October 11, 2023 will be accepted till November 17, 2023. Details of the same are available on the state government's tender website

Queensland targets to grow its renewable energy capacity in the total energy mix to 50% by 2030, growing to 70% by 2032 and to 80% by 2035. In July 2023, it unveiled a 22 GW new wind and solar capacity target spread across 12 potential renewable energy zones (see Australian State Reveals REZ Roadmap).
