TelOne Zimbabwe has launched a tender seeking the deployment of hybrid solar power plants
These projects will be deployed to power its exchanges at Chitungwiza, Hatfield and Glenview locations, along with the TelOne Centre for Learning
It specifies 60 kW of solar PV capacity along with 144 kWh of lithium-ion battery to be installed
TelOne Zimbabwe, the state-owned telecommunications company, plans to have 60 kW of combined hybrid solar power plants commissioned for its exchange sites, accompanied by lithium-ion battery storage systems.
Of the total capacity, a minimum of 40 kW solar PV, 96 kWh of battery, and 40 kW of rated UPS power capacity will need to be installed for Chitungwiza, Hatfield and Glenview locations as a vendor-financed project.
The remaining 20 kW solar PV, 48 kWh of battery, and 20 kW rated UPS Power is sought for TelOne Centre for Learning.
According to the tender specifications, the PV modules to be supplied must use monocrystalline solar cells with a maximum power rating of at least 620 W. It seeks a minimum solar PV module efficiency of 22% with a 25-year linear power warranty.
The lithium-ion battery module to be installed must support over 4,500 cycles at a recommended 90% DoD. Additionally, the tender document specifies a 3-phase hybrid inverter to be used with a 48V DC power output source.
It launched the tender in February 2025, and the last date to submit bids is March 6, 2025.
