Operating under India's largest state-owned utility NTPC Limited, energy generator THDC India Limited (THDCIL) is looking for interested consultants for a 600 MW solar power plant at Jhansi and also for floating PV projects to be set up various reservoirs in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
For the 600 MW solar PV project to be located at administrative division of Garautha in Jhansi district, THDCIL is looking to appoint a consultant to carry out environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA).
The call has come a year after THDCIL joint venture with Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), TUSCO Limited and UPNEDA roped in the World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation (IFC) to provide an advisory role for the project (see India PV News Snippets).
This project is planned to be installed under the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) Scheme of the federal Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

THDCIL is also seeking a consultant to prepare a pre-feasibility report and detailed project report (DPR) for the development of floating solar power projects on various dam reservoirs in the state.
This call with tender ID 2023_THDC_733579_1 was launched on January 9, 2023 with bids accepted till February 13, 2023.

Set up to establish hydropower plants, THDCIL has today diversified into other power generation sources as thermal, wind and solar. As per the company's website, it has a total installed capacity of 4.516 GW comprising 50 MW Kasaragod Solar Power Plant.
Its solar power portfolio plans also include an 800 MW solar park at Chittarkoot district of UP, apart from the 600 MW Jhansi PV project.
