The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Turkey has launched the 5th auction round under the country's Yenilenebilir Enerji Kaynak Alanları (YEKA) program, dubbed as YEKA SPP-5, or YEKA GES-5, with plan to award 1.5 GW solar power capacity.

This will be awarded through 76 competitions for large scale PV projects for 23 connection points or cities, with individual project capacity ranging between 10 MW to 30 MW. The ministry has capped tariffs for this tender at TRY 0.40 ($0.045) per kWh.

Applications in response to this call will be accepted on January 12, 2022. Details of the tender are available on the ministry's website

Back in July 2021, the Energy Ministry launched 1 GW solar tender as YEKA SPP-4 (see Turkish Energy Ministry Announces 1 GW Solar Tender).

Turkey's total installed electricity generation capacity has reached 98.5 GW, of which renewables account for 53% share. While wind energy represents 10 GW capacity, the share of solar energy has gone up to 7.43 GW, according to the Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez.
