US based electric and natural gas utility CPS Energy has invited proposals for up to 700 MW solar energy capacity to expand its generation portfolio as part of its efforts to diversify community solar options for end consumers.

The request for proposals (RFP) round is open to local, small, diverse businesses as well as large, well-known firms. Proposals received will be evaluated to select successful vendors. Management said another community solar RFP is under development and will be released over the coming months.

"We know that clean energy is important to our community, and our RFP for up to 700 MW of solar capacity will secure more energy for our growing community in the near future," said President & CEO of CPS Energy, Rudy D. Garza.

On completion of this RFP, CPS expects its operational and contracted solar capacity to exceed 1.8 GW, up from 1.131 GW currently under contract. CPS counts its existing solar capacity as 551 MW.

Launched on May 2, 2023, the tender is open for proposal submission till June 1, 2023. It can be submitted a link provided by the company.
