ZESCO Seeking Bidders For 50 MW AC In Zambia

• Zambia's ZESCO has launched EOIs for a maximum of 50 MW AC solar power capacity
• It needs to be set up across the country in Southern, Western and Luapula provinces
• The utility wants to have this capacity come up in public private partnership JV with interested developers

Government owned Zambian electricity utility ZESCO Limited has launched a tender for the development of 50 MW AC capacity in Southern, Western and Luapula provinces through a public private partnership joint venture (JV).

The selected developers will be expected to finance, construct and operate the solar plants as independent power producers (IPP) after handing in associated feasibility studies. They will be required to submit individual EOIs for any or all of the locations with aggregate capacity of 50 MW AC. The JV will be held by the selected developer and ZESCO in 90:10 ratio.

"ZESCO's desired model for the development of the solar power plants across the ZESCO network is to have them distributed with a maximum of 50 MW (AC) per point of common coupling (PCC) between the SPP and ZESCO power system," stated ZESCO.
