India-based Orient Solar, a brand of ADM Solar Power, with an 800 MW PV module manufacturing facility in the Delhi NCR region, showcased its latest PV modules, inverters, and battery models at the recently concluded REI Expo 2024.
During a one-on-one conversation with TaiyangNews, the managing director of Orient Solar, Mr. Rishab Kohli, highlighted the company's brand-new X-NOVA series dual glass TOPCon module, a prototype of the TBC module, and the latest 1-phase hybrid inverter at the show.
X-NOVA series module
The company's upcoming dual glass TOPCon module, marketed under the X-NOVA brand, features 144 pieces of 16BB TOPCon half-cells. The company says it can deliver a power output of up to 590 W and an efficiency of up to 22.84%. This certification pending module, available in 7 different power classes between 560 W and 590 W, can deliver an open circuit voltage (Voc) of up to 49.08 V and short-circuit current (Isc) of up to 14.33 A. Measuring 2,278 x 1,134 x 30 mm and laminated with 2 mm thick front and rear glass, the module weighs 32 kg. The company is offering a product warranty of up to 12 years and a linear power performance warranty of up to 30 years for this product.
Alongside the brand new TOPCon module, the company also promoted the X-PRESS series and X-AMP series monofacial PERC cell-based modules at the event. The X-PRESS series, equipped with 144 pieces of M10 size half-cells, can deliver a power output of up to 555 W and an efficiency of up to 21.50%, while the X-AMP series model built with 156 pieces of M10 half-cells delivers a power output of up to 590 W and an efficiency of up to 21.5%.
Prototype TBC module
According to the company’s technology roadmap, the displayed small format TOPCon back contact (TBC) cell-based module, can deliver a module efficiency of above 25% in the next 2 to 3 years.
Inverter
At the REI Expo 2024, the company also unveiled its brand-new Orient ARC series 1-phase hybrid inverter of 5 kVA capacity. This inverter series, featuring 2 MPPT channels each with 17 A maximum current carrying capacity, can accommodate input DC power of up to 8,000 W. This 5 kVA (AC) rated inverter can deliver a full-load current of up to 26.5 A in on-grid mode, added the company. This hybrid inverter is combined with a 48 V and 200 Ah capacity lithium-ion battery bank, which has charging and discharging currents of up to 140 A. According to the company datasheet, during grid outage, this inverter can switch to UPS mode in a switching time of less than 15 milliseconds.
Orient Solar is currently ramping up the PV module manufacturing capacity to up to 2 GW.
