Module makers are preferring to label their products under a broader section of applications and offering the same product for more than one application. According to our research as presented in the TaiyangNews Advanced Solar Module Technologies 2021 report, apart from the mainstream applications such as utility, commercial & industrial (C&I) and residential, the module products are also promoted for a fusion of applications. Residential and C&I is such segment. TaiyangNews' Advanced Solar Module Technologies 2021 report listed 21 of such products from 7 manufacturers . The modules listed here are a real mix of products suitable for both applications.
Similar to the listing of products for the residential segment, there is only one product with a 72-cell or equivalent configuration. It is a shingling module from US company Solaria, for which the wafer size is unknown and which has a power rating of 400 W. The other cell configurations are 60 and 66-cell equivalents, which are common in both the applications—residential and C&I.
As for cell technologies, the list also consists of 3 n-type TOPCon modules, all from Jolywood, offered in different formats. Two of these are based on the 158.75 mm wafer size, but in 60 and 66-cell equivalent layouts. The other is based on the M6 wafer format in a 60-cell equivalent configuration, which can be characterized as a high efficiency product in a smaller size that is suitable for residential systems. Both the modules based on 60-cell equivalent layout are flexible modules. As for wafer sizes, only JA Solar is offering its M10-based DeepBlue 3.0 modules in a 66-cell equivalent layout, which enables it to reach a high power rating of 505 W. The series is offered in both monofacial and bifacial variants. Including this product from JA Solar, there are 4 bifacial models promoted by the company that are listed here. M6 and G1 are the main wafer formats seen among monocrystalline panels, while JA Solar is also promoting products based on the 168 mm wafer size. While these aspects come with a flavor of the C&I side of the application, the M6 and G1 formats in 60-cell layout  represent the residential side. All 5 models from Futurasun, Trina, Chint. CSI and LONGi listed using M6 format wafers have the same power rating of 380 W, while the power range is 335 to 350 W for G1 modules promoted by JA Solar, Trina and Chint.
