Indian solar power company Tata Power Solar has commissioned a 450 MW DC solar power plant in the state of Rajasthan for Brookfield Renewable India, taking its total utility scale solar project pipeline to 9.7 GW DC.
Installation of the said project was completed within 7 months. It is equipped with more than 800,000 bifacial solar modules with power output of 535W and 540W. It is designed to generate over 800 GWh of clean energy annually, enough to avoid up to 600,000 tons of CO2 emissions, added the subsidiary and the EPC arm of Tata Power.
Indian press agency Press Trust of India (PTI) called it the 1st greenfield solar project for the Indian arm of Canadian private equity major with 445 MW capacity. It developed the project in partnership with Axis Energy Ventures.
The project is contracted to sell power to the NTPC which will further sell it to Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company and Puducherry Electricity Department.
Brookfield currently holds close to 21 GW renewables capacity and development pipeline of more than 60 GW, with most of these wind, solar and hydro assets based in the Americas, Europe, India and China. In India, its more than 4 GW capacity is at various stages of execution in 7 states.
