As the global solar industry grapples with high prices for solar components and supply chain pressures, US independent power producer (IPP) Silicon Ranch has placed an order for solar tracker manufacturer Nextracker to supply it with 1.5 GW trackers through 2024.
The order quantity may expand as Silicon Ranch grows its portfolio in the future. Nextracker will supply its Horizon-XTR trackers for this order that the duo say includes a shared commitment to increase domestic supply and promote lower-carbon production processes.
"This agreement with Nextracker not only helps us keep our promises to our customers, but also enables us to decarbonize our supply chain and support additional investments in American manufacturing," said Silicon Ranch Co-Founder and CEO Reagan Farr.
The company recently placed an order for 4 GW DC Made in America solar modules with First Solar (see First Solar Bags 4.75 GW DC Module Orders).
Nextracker recently launched 2 dedicated manufacturing lines for steel production in Arizona and Texas to ensure critical materials supply to help it cater to the US market (see Nextracker & Atkore Commission Manufacturing Line In Arizona).
