German solar developer and distributor IBC SOLAR has launched its own digital platform that will enable residents to participate in its local solar parks in the future. Through this platform, people can find out about current projects, their conditions and participate directly as it facilitates small volume financial investments.
Explaining it further, CEO of IBC SOLAR AG Udo Möhrstedt said, "Energy transition belongs in the hands of residents. We have been of this opinion from the very beginning. People actually want to contribute to the generation of clean energy. If this is not possible with their own solar system on the roof, participation in solar parks offers a good alternative. The topic of acceptance is also of great importance, especially in the case of solar parks. By offering the opportunity to participate in a financially interesting solar product, we have a chance to increase the acceptance of solar projects among the population."
The Schnaid solar park is the first project within the framework of investment opportunities and will be built in the municipality of Hallerndorf in the district of Forchheim, Germany. The 6.5 MW solar park will supply around 7,000 MWh of green electricity annually which will be more than enough to supply more than 2,000 3-person households with green energy per year. In addition, it will save 4,300 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The construction of this project will begin in 2023. Two more such projects are being planned near Bad Staffelstein.
On the technical front, IBC SOLAR has partnered with services provider EUECO, which offers a simple, digital way to scale up financial citizen participation. CEO and founder of EUECO Josef Bauer said, "We are proud to have gained IBC SOLAR as a new customer for our platform solution. Solar parks and citizen participation are perfect partners for a comprehensive energy transition."
Adding to this, Team Leader Project Development Germany at IBC SOLAR Christian Sinne said, "In order for the energy transition to succeed, there must be a common direction for all parties involved, especially in the current situation. We need the change now, not when nobody can afford electricity anymore. Projects like ours ensure that electricity remains affordable."
