The Polish subsidiary of Portugal's EDP, EDP Energia Polska has acquired local distributed solar power company Zielona-Energia.com to expand its presence in this segment in this European market.
Zielona-Energia caters to small and medium business enterprises (SME) including schools, corporate offices or those in the agricultural space, all across the country. It has been operational in this segment since 2013 and has built a portfolio of 58 MW installed capacity. Out of this, around 7 MW capacity was contracted within H1/2022.
For EDP, this acquisition expands its footprint in the Polish PV market even further. It already owns Soon Energy here with whom it contracted close to 30 MW capacity with corporate clients, between January 2022 and June 2022.
The acquisition of Soon Energy with its more than 25 MW capacity installed for business and residential customers, was announced in March 2022.
"Solar energy will be a fundamental lever to drive the energy transition that the EDP group is committed to leading in the 28 markets where it is present. Poland is a strategic country for this growth, where we were already developing wind projects and where, with this business segment, we intend to reach next year the mark of 100 MWp of contracted solar capacity for self-consumption," said EDP Director Vera Pinto Pereira.
