  • NextEra Energy Resources and Entergy Corporation will advance renewable energy in partnership
  • Their 5-year JDA will facilitate the advancement of up to 4.5 GW solar and energy storage portfolio
  • This is on top of more than 1.7 GW of renewable energy projects that both of them have already collaborated for

A subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc, NextEra Energy Resources LLC has agreed to develop several GWs of new solar and energy storage capacity in the US under a joint development agreement (JDA) with US utility Entergy Corporation.

Both the partners will facilitate the development and construction of up to 4.5 GW of solar generation and energy storage projects under the 5-year agreement.

Entergy said this represents significant progress towards Entergy's growing portfolio of renewable energy generation as it targets net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The utility supplies power through its operating companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Recently, it received Louisiana Public Service Commission's approval to add 3 GW solar PV capacity to its portfolio (see North America Solar PV News Snippets).

NextEra Energy Resources' President and CEO Rebecca Kujawa said, "We're pleased to reach this agreement because it further strengthens our long-standing collaboration and adds up to 4.5 GW on top of the more than 1.7 GW of renewable energy projects already underway with Entergy."

NextEra Energy Resources added close to 2.76 GW of new renewables and storage projects to its backlog in Q1/2024, comprising 1.54 GW of solar energy. It expands the company's total backlog to around 21.5 GW.
