US based clean energy company Intersect Power has announced new America-made module supply orders for 4.9 GW DC combined capacity, expanding its existing order book for 2022 with module maker First Solar to a cumulative 7.3 GW DC.

First Solar is now obligated to complete the delivery for the 2 new orders—1 GW DC and 3.9 GW DC, secured before and after declaration of Q3/2022 financial results, respectively—between 2025 to 2029.

It adds to the previous 2.4 GW DC contract the duo signed in July 2022, under which First Solar will deliver the order between 2024 and 2026 (see 2.4 GW DC Solar Module Order For First Solar). With the new contracts announced, Intersect Power's combined orders placed with First Solar, within 2022 alone add up to 7.3 GW DC.

The American manufacturer will supply both Series 6 Plus and Series 7 modules to Intersect Power to be used for its solar, storage and green hydrogen projects across the US.

"Prior to 2022, Intersect Power had placed orders for a total of 4.1 GW DC of modules in deals signed in 2019 and 2021. This latest transaction is expected to solidify its position as the world's largest buyer and operator of First Solar's US-developed, ultra-low carbon, PV module technology, with an estimated deployed capacity of 11.4 GW DC by 2029," stated First Solar.

As concerns regarding use of forced labor in imported solar PV products increase in the US, First Solar with its silicon-free module technology and a 'tightly controlled supply chain' is getting a lot busier as orders pour in. It is now expanding annual production capacity with a new 3.5 GW DC US located manufacturing plant in Alabama (see First Solar Picks Alabama For New US Module Fab).
