French Construction Company Opts For Solar In NA

• Saint-Gobain has signed its 2^nd solar power contract with its compatriot TotalEnergies in North America
• The French energy group will supply 100 MW clean energy from its Danish Fields Solar Project for 15 years
• Saint-Gobain plans to power 125 of its industrial facilities in the US and Canada under this contract

Saint-Gobain, the French construction firm, has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with its compatriot TotalEnergies for 100 MW solar energy supply in North America.

The 15-year PPA for the Danish Fields Solar Project will come into force after the project comes online by 2024-end. In 2021, Maxeon Solar Technologies announced up to 400 MW bifacial solar module supply agreement with TotalEnergies for the latter's Danish Fields Solar Power Plant in Texas.

Saint-Gobain says it will power the company's 125 industrial sites in the US and Canada, lowering its Scope 2 emissions from electricity by 90,000 metric tons/year.

"With this agreement, Saint-Gobain North America will further reduce its CO2 emissions, demonstrating how fast the manufacturing industry can transform when long term solutions are at hand," said Saint-Gobain North America CEO Mark Rayfield.

This is the 2^nd solar PPA between the 2 companies as it follows a similar arrangement for 10-year duration announced in October 2022. TotalEnergies is contracted to supply power from 200 MW of the Cottonwood Bayou Solar Project in Texas to power Saint-Gobain's 145 industrial sites in the US and Canada. It is also scheduled to come into force by 2024-end.
