Key Takeaways
  • Next2Sun has received subscriptions and financing offers exceeding €5 million

  • The company had warned of potential insolvency without sufficient funding by September 25, 2026

  • The management said it is reviewing commitments to determine whether sufficient binding financing has been secured to ensure continued operations

German vertical PV specialist Next2Sun GmbH has received subscriptions and financing offers totaling more than €5 million, potentially easing its funding challenges. However, the company will review and verify the commitments before confirming whether sufficient binding financing has been secured.

Next2Sun thanked investors and supporters for their response to its fundraising initiative, which included subscriptions for company shares and other financing offers. It cautioned that the commitments remain subject to verification and acceptance.

“Since the company's continued operation depends on a solid and reliable financial foundation, we will carefully review, verify, and evaluate the commitments and significant subscriptions received in the coming days before making a final statement,” stated the German company.

The development follows Next2Sun’s earlier warning that it could face insolvency if it failed to secure sufficient financing by September 25, 2026 (see German Vertical PV Pioneer Next2Sun Battles Funding Crunch).

In August, the company launched a share offering targeting up to €5 million to accelerate the development of its own solar projects and expand its business. However, by September 18, it had secured only a fraction of the target, according to its management.

Next2Sun attributed its financial difficulties to delays in agri-PV subsidy approvals and reluctance among banks and investors to finance renewable energy projects. It maintained that the funding constraints were not due to a lack of customers, projects, or commercially viable technology.

In August 2025, NextSun announced former-Meyer Burger CEO Gunter Erfurt as its Supervisory Board Chairman (see Solar Industry Veteran Gunter Erfurt Joins Next2Sun As Chairman).
