One of the world's largest solar PV manufacturers, LONGi Green Energy Technology is to add another 26 GW of silicon ingots and wafer capacity in China's Inner Mongolia, expanding its planned capacity increase here from 20 GW to 46 GW.

Back in March 2022, LONGi said it will add 20 GW monocrystalline silicon wafer, 30 GW high efficiency monocrystalline cell and 5 GW high efficiency solar module capacity in Inner Mongolia's Ordos City. The 20 GW silicon wafer project was to cost an estimated RMB 7.6 billion (see LONGi Plans Capacity Expansion In China).

In a new stock exchange announcement, LONGi said it has signed an additional investment and cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Erdos City and Yijinhuoluo to expand planned capacity, as per its strategic development needs.

It now expects to invest approximately RMB 14.55 billion, expanding by RMB 6.95 billion from the previous amount on the renewed plans. Capacity expansion plans for 30 GW monocrystalline cell and 5 GW modules remain unchanged.

The management said this expansion is in line with its future production capacity planning that will improve its market competitiveness, and is conducive to the company's full use of technology and product leading advantages.

Implementation will be preceded by a project feasibility analysis which will be disclosed in a timely manner.

At the end of 2021, LONGi's annual wafer manufacturing capacity added up to 105 GW, to be expanded to 150 GW by 2022-end (see Good Financial Results For LONGi In H1/2022).
