Key Takeaways
  • RWE has secured long-term CPPAs with Meta for 2 of its US solar PV projects

  • The 374 MW AC capacity under contract will support Meta’s 100% renewable energy goal

  • Both the projects are currently under construction and scheduled for commissioning for late 2025

Global technology company Meta Platforms has announced 2 new corporate power purchase agreements (CPPA) with RWE in the US for 374 MW AC combined solar PV capacity. It says these agreements will support the company’s operations with 100% renewable energy.

The long-term contracts are for 274 MW AC County Run Solar Project in Illinois, and 100 MW AC Lafitte Solar Project in Louisiana. Both the facilities are currently under construction with commissioning planned for late 2025.

“We are excited to scale our renewable energy contracts and this collaboration is an important demonstration of those efforts and our commitment to match 100% of the electricity use of our data centers and offices with renewable energy,” said Meta’s Head of Renewable Energy Urvi Parekh.

In March 2024, Meta signed 2 long-terms Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreements (EAPA) for 349 MW AC solar power plant in Missouri, US (see North America Solar PV News Snippets).
