  • Peak Energy and Digital Edge have announced a renewable energy partnership
  • It entails the development of an initial 500 MW project pipeline to power Digital Edge's data centers
  • Currently, Digital Edge has operations in Japan, Korea, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines

Renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) Peak Energy has entered an agreement with Asian data center company Digital Edge (Singapore) Holdings to build renewable energy facilities to power the latter's data centers, starting with an initial 500 MW pipeline.

Portfolio companies of alternative investment firm Stonepeak, both Digital Edge and Peak Energy plan to jointly pursue this capacity for both existing and planned data centers of Digital Edge over a 3-year period.

Target technologies will be a combination of solar, wind, and storage projects, while target locations will be those with Digital Edge's footprint including Japan, Korea, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The partnership will also explore renewable energy projects in countries where the data center firm expands.

Digital Edge says these projects will support the decarbonization of up to 1 GW of power, and generate more than 1,300 GWh/year.

"Peak Energy is focused on helping corporates reduce their power costs and carbon footprints in a sustainable way," said Peak Energy's CEO Gavin Adda. "This partnership will foster the common business objectives of two rapidly growing companies throughout the Asia Pacific region."
