Premier Energies has commissioned a 400 MW Mono PERC solar cell manufacturing line at its E-City plant in Maheshwaram, Telangana
With this addition, the company’s total operational solar cell capacity has increased from 3.2 GW to 3.6 GW, alongside an existing module capacity of 5.1 GW
Premier is targeting capacities of 10.6 GW for solar cells and 11.1 GW for modules by September 2026, while also planning upstream expansion into ingots and wafers
Premier Energies Limited has commissioned a 400 MW Mono PERC solar cell manufacturing facility in Telangana. This expands the Indian manufacturer’s operational solar cell capacity to 3.6 GW.
Located at its E-City Plant in Maheshwaram, Premier Energies Photovoltaic Private Limited achieved the 400 MW capacity by installing additional equipment as part of a brownfield expansion of its existing cell manufacturing operations.
This is an expansion over the 3.2 GW cumulative cell production capacity the company reported at the end of Q3 FY2026 (ended December 31, 2025), along with 5.1 GW module capacity.
Premier targets to achieve 10.6 GW of solar cell and 11.1 GW of module production capacity by September 2026. It is also venturing upstream with an ambition of 10 GW ingot production capacity by FY2028, for which it launched a joint venture with Taiwan’s Sino-American Silicon Products Inc (SAS) in May 2025 (see Premier Energies, SAS To Set Up 2 GW Solar Wafer Unit In India).
During Q3 FY26, Premier Energies produced 593 MW of solar cells and 956 MW of modules (459 MW and 665 MW in Q3 FY25, respectively), achieving 83% cell and 78% module capacity utilization. Cell capacity utilization up from 79% in the previous quarter, thanks to the progressive ramp-up of its new 1.2 GW cell line.
According to the company’s unaudited financial results for Q3 FY26, its INR 19.36 billion revenue during the quarter improved 13% year-over-year (YoY) and 5.4% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). Module sales made up 75% of the revenue mix, with 99% sold domestically.
Operating EBITDA of INR 5.93 billion went up by 15.5% YoY and 5.8% QoQ. Profit after tax (PAT) grew by 53.4% and 10.8% over the same period.
As of December 31, 2025, Premier Energies’ total order book stood at 9.41 GW, worth INR 137.23 billion, with a higher percentage of cells, and 100% for the domestic market.
Premier is also expanding horizontally with the acquisition of solar inverter manufacturer KSolare and transformer production specialist Transcon (see India Solar PV News Snippets).
The management has now secured the board’s approval to grant additional time to meet the conditions for acquiring a 51% stake in Ksolare Energy Private Limited, after both the seller and the company requested an extension.
Premier Energies Chief Strategy Officer Sudhir M Reddy will be part of an executive panel on choosing the right strategy for solar manufacturing in India at the Solar Technology Conference India 2026 (STC.I 2026).
