Reliance Industries says its New Energy business division has produced about 1 GW of ALMM-certified HJT solar modules
Commissioning of its integrated solar manufacturing facilities is advancing toward large-scale operations
The company is progressing with battery manufacturing expansion targeting 40 GWh cell manufacturing this year
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) said it has produced around 1 GW of ALMM-certified heterojunction (HJT) solar modules at its Jamnagar New Energy Giga Complex and remains on track to build an integrated 20 GW annual solar manufacturing capacity while expanding its battery business.
Speaking on the company's Q1 FY27 (quarter ended June 30, 2026) earnings call, Karan Suri, Senior Vice President – New Energy, said RIL’s clean energy projects spanning renewable generation, manufacturing, and green fuels are moving into large-scale execution.
On manufacturing, the company said it has already produced about 1 GW of HJT solar modules alongside solar cells, all certified under India's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) (see HJT Solar Cells, From Reliance, Enter India’s ALMM List-II).
Suri added that the company’s integrated solar manufacturing facilities, covering polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules and glass, are progressing toward full-scale operations. With the wafer pilot plant already complete, the company is now moving toward large-scale manufacturing, with commissioning expected over the next few quarters.
The construction of Reliance’s polysilicon facility is also nearing completion, and the plant is being prepared for startup and commissioning.
“And we are on track,” said Suri, “to achieve 20-gigawatt annual capacity for our solar PV manufacturing in an integrated fashion.” RIL had earlier announced plans to build 4 gigafactories for solar PV, energy storage, green hydrogen, and fuel cell systems, along with a power electronics gigafab (see Reliance Announces Power Electronics Giga Fab).
Reliance is also advancing its battery cell manufacturing facility, targeting to bring 40 GWh of capacity online this year, with plans to expand annual battery manufacturing capacity to 120 GWh.
The company said construction and engineering work at its Kutch Renewable Ecosystem is progressing, with solar installation expected to begin after the monsoon. It also expects to start supplying electricity from Kutch later this year as transmission infrastructure becomes operational.
At Kutch, RIL is developing a renewable energy hub across 5,50,000 acres to deliver round-the-clock (RTC) power at GW-scale, combining solar and battery storage systems. On completion, it will generate over 40 billion units of green electricity annually, representing approximately 3% of India’s annual electricity requirement, the company had earlier announced.
RIL is preparing to scale execution to 55 MW of solar PV installations and 150 MWh of battery deployments per day at peak capacity. Renewable power will support its Jamnagar refinery, new energy operations, data centers and planned green fuel complex.
The company added that it has already signed a $3 billion green ammonia contract with Samsung C&T and is in discussions with additional strategic partners for the remaining green fuel capacity.
