Solar Power From 53 Plants For Uniper

• Uniper has entered a PPA with Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH for 198 MW solar power capacity in Germany
• Sunnic will supply the German energy company with approximately 208 GWh annually from 53 solar parks
• The PPA will come into effect in July 2022 and will initially be operational till the end of 2027

German energy company Uniper has signed up to receive solar power supply of around 208 GWh annually under a framework agreement with Enerparc AG subsidiary Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH which will provide clean power from 53 solar parks located in the country.

Sunnic will get this solar power generated from close to 198 MW capacity, and start delivery from July 2022 and provide it till the end of 2027 initially under the power purchase agreement (PPA).

Uniper said it will enable the company to decarbonize its power generation and offer the same to its customers to meet their climate targets. The company, a subsidiary of Finish utility Fortum, is one of the largest electricity producers in Europe and has around 33 GW installed capacity across the world, mostly coal and gas based. It aims for its Europe operations to become carbon neutral by 2035.

"Long-term electricity supply contracts in the form of power purchase agreements offer particularly attractive conditions and security for both sides," said Sunnic CEO Arved von Harpe. "These 208 GWh that we deliver to Uniper are an excellent example of how investments in renewable energies meet the demand for green electricity."

Enerparc's COO Stefan Müller participated in an executive panel discussion during TaiyangNews webinar on European Solar Developments 2022 in April 2022 where he said Europe can further accelerate solar power development to meet decarbonization targets if it deals with permitting, module supply and skilled labor challenges (see European Solar Developments 2022).
