Sweden’s Elvy has announced Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio as an investor
Elvy reportedly raised an additional SEK 16 million, with Leonardo DiCaprio participating in the round
The Swedish firm said it aims to invest more than SEK 10 billion and secure 600 MW of distributed energy capacity within three years
Swedish energy technology company Elvy, which provides energy-as-a-service, has attracted investment from Hollywood actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio.
Elvy announced the investment alongside the launch of a customer referral platform, which it says will make it easier for households to transition to renewable energy.
In May 2026, Elvy raised SEK 70 million in a funding round led by Daft Capital and Essential Capital. Swedish business publication Breakit reported that DiCaprio’s investment was part of an additional SEK 16 million funding round extension. Elvy has not disclosed the specifics of DiCaprio’s investment.
Elvy claims to have built the world’s first energy subscription which it launched in 2024 with 100 customers. By February 2026, the numbers had grown to 1,000 customers.
Elvy’s subscription model combines solar panels, battery storage, and heat pumps with no upfront payment or installation costs for customers; they pay a fixed monthly fee. The company is responsible for operating the equipment and uses its proprietary AI engine to manage the systems.
Management says the model is designed to simplify energy management for households, while Elvy generates revenue through subscription payments.
The company claims it delivered 60% average household energy savings in 2025, its “breakout year of growth”. Elvy says its revenue last year increased 10-fold on a year-on-year (YoY) basis. Within 1.5 years, it has built up 23 MW of capacity across its distributed energy fleet in Sweden.
Elvy CEO and Co-Founder Johan Outinen says the company plans to invest over SEK 10 billion and secure 600 MW within three years.
Commenting on the investment, Leonardo DiCaprio said, “Elvy is demonstrating that energy efficiency can be both measurable for homeowners and scalable as a business.” He added that Elvy could reduce household energy consumption by an average of 60%, highlighting the potential for its model to change how energy is produced, managed, and consumed.
DiCaprio has previously been associated with investments in the solar energy sector. In 2020, Princeville Climate Technology, a US investment fund for which he serves as an adviser, invested in German residential solar company Enpal. Spanish solar installer also counted the Hollywood actor as an investor and brand ambassador (see Europe Solar PV News Snippets).
