Waaree will raise its Arizona solar module manufacturing capacity from 1 GW to 1.6 GW through a $37 million upgrade
The company plans to relocate machinery from its 1 GW Tumb and 1.11 GW Nandigram facilities to its Chikhli plant in Gujarat

Waaree Energies Limited is set to increase its Arizona, US solar PV module manufacturing capacity to 1.6 GW from 1 GW through a $37 million upgrade, while also reshaping its Indian manufacturing operations.
Waaree Solar Americas, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, will revamp its Arizona manufacturing facility by replacing existing module production lines with new high-efficiency lines. The upgrade is expected to add 600 MW of capacity, taking Arizona’s output capability to 1.6 GW.
Following the upgrade, Waaree says its aggregate manufacturing capacity in the US will reach 4.8 GW, comprising 3.2 GW in Texas and 1.6 GW in Arizona. It plans to fund the approximately $37 million capital expenditure through a mix of debt and internal accruals.
Waaree Solar Americas started trial operations at its Arizona fab in January 2025 as part of its overarching plans for 5 GW of solar module and cell manufacturing capacity in the US by 2027. At the time, it said the module factory would have 1.6 GW capacity under Phase I (see Waaree’s 1.6 GW US Solar Module Manufacturing Fab Commissioned).
On its home turf in India, Waaree Energies' board has approved relocating plant and machinery from its 1 GW Tumb facility and 1.11 GW Nandigram facility to its existing plant in Chikhli, Gujarat. The relocation is expected to be completed by December 31, 2026, with Waaree citing operational efficiency as the reason.
Together, the two facilities accounted for about 14% of the company’s standalone turnover in the last financial year. Waaree operates a 5.4 GW solar cell factory in Chikhli (see Waaree Commissions India’s Largest Solar Cell Production Factory).
Separately, Waaree Energies subsidiary Waaree Transpower plans to invest approximately INR 192 crore to establish a 500 MVA, 400 kV transformer manufacturing facility. The plant is expected to become operational by April 2027. The new facility will manufacture transformers across 132 kV, 220 kV, and 400 kV voltage classes. The company expects this facility to complement its existing capabilities and enable the company to participate in larger power infrastructure projects.
“As renewable energy deployment accelerates, strengthening the transmission network and enabling the seamless integration of new generation and storage capacity into the grid will be equally critical,” said Waaree Energies Director Viren Doshi. “This facility will significantly enhance our capabilities and enable us to serve customers across a broader range of voltage classes and power infrastructure applications.”
Waaree Transpower currently has an order book of approximately INR 360 crore for execution during FY 2026-27, the company said.
