Yingli Solar has commenced operations for phase I of its 5 GW solar module manufacturing project in Tianjin, Hebei province. The production line is equipped to roll out PERC single glass, and double glass modules, along with all-black panels for the distributed generation market.
Modules produced here will have a power output of 400W to 600W with module efficiency exceeding 21%, the Chinese company announced. On August 30, 2021, the new fab's U-shaped production line—self-designed to improve production efficiency and reduce production costs—rolled out a 182mm wafer sized solar module with 10-busbar design.
Management said the new line has followed all requisites of a 'green factory', namely intelligent production processes and quality control units, among others.
The company had announced its plans to invest RMB 1.7 billion to expand its annual solar module production capacity by 5 GW in Hebei province, back in October 2020. It had aimed for June 2021 as the starting of phase I (see Yingli Solar Going In For 5 GW Solar Module Capacity).
Yingli Solar aims to grow its module manufacturing capacity to a total of 15 GW by 2023 (see Yingli Solar Aims For 15 GW Solar Module Capacity By 2023).
