TH New Energy facility passes carbon footprint verification; In 2022, JinkoSolar delivers 44 GW n-Type TOPCon modules; RoboTechnik and SPIC for HJT cells; Beijing Jingneng invests in Puning PV clean energy project; DAS Solar delivers n-type modules to China Datang project.

TH New Energy’s cell facility gets carbon footprint certification: TH New Energy, a joint and integrated layout of Tongwei Solar and Trina Solar, announced that its cell facility has passed the Rheinland Testing and Certification Service (China)’s product carbon footprint certification verification and has obtained the certificate. During the verification, the facility was verified for carbon emissions of the entire product life cycle as per the ISO 14067:2018 standard. The certification team verified various data sources and also conducted LCA modelling verification that included five stages of carbon footprint project guidance – inventory preparation guidance, inventory inspection, inventory revision, carbon footprint modeling and calculation. Ultimately, the team found that the carbon footprint quantification process of the facility meets all the verification requirements and hence awarded it the product carbon footprint certification.

JinkoSolar delivers 44 GW solar modules last year:  Module supplier JinkoSolar announced that it has delivered 44 GW of solar modules last year, including 10 GW of its higher efficient n-Type TOPCon Tiger Neo series. This, the company said, made it the second-largest solar module producer in terms of shipment in 2022, and also a successful n-type module provider. Last year saw a strong demand for n-type modules in Europe, China, Australia, Latin America, and MENA.

RoboTechnik and SPIC partner for HJT cells: In an announcement, high-end automation equipment manufacturer RoboTechnik said that it has entered an agreement with China’s State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) to develop VDI electroplating solutions for copper grid wire heterojunction cells. As per the agreement, both companies will focus on the verification and mass application of their existing technology/process; build new technologies and processes; and also concentrate on the development of copper electroplating related processes and equipment. In early January, RoboTechnik had already said it had supplied innovative copper electroplating equipment but at that point it was not clear who would be the buyer (see China PV News Snippets – All About HJT)

Beijing Jingneng to build GW-level PV clean energy project in Puning: Photovoltaic power and clean energy company Beijing Jingneng Clean Energy Co., Limited said over WeChat that the company, Puning Municipal Government, and investment company China Sunshine Investment Fund Management have signed an agreement for a 1 GW PV power  project. Beijing Jingneng will be investing RMB 4.5 billion ($0.67 billion) to build the project. Earlier this month, the company had announced its plans to build 1 GW wind-solar hydrogen project, and commenced construction of the first 500 MW (see China PV News Snippets).

DAS Solar delivers n-type modules to China Datang: Chinese solar cell and module maker DAS Solar, over WeChat, made an announcement that it has successfully delivered 70 MW n-type TOPCon high-efficiency modules for phase 3 of Datang Lusigang photovoltaic power generation project. This project comes under China Water Conservancy and Electric Materials Beijing Co., Ltd, who had after several rounds of assessments, chosen n-type module producer DAS Solar to supply the modules. Located in Qidong and spread across 1,400 mu, this is China Datang’s first photovoltaic n-type module project in Jiangsu.
