Golden Photovoltaic GW-Scale HJT facility put into production & More From Tongwei, EGing PV, Zhitong Energy

Golden Photovoltaic HJT facility produces first batch of large-size cells; Tongwei registers 65.5% rise in profit in Q1/2023; Zhitong Energy to build 6 GW TOPCon facility; EGing PV releases 2022 results; China’s new energy grid-connected consumption report released.

Golden Photovoltaic  GW-scale HJT facility put into production: Supplier of high-end special building glass, Golden Photovoltaic (formerly known as Golden Glass), said via WeChat that its 4.8 GW high-efficiency heterojunction solar cell and module facility in Jiuquan has achieved the first line of production. With this, the first batch of 210 half-cell bifacial microcrystalline HJT solar cells has been successfully produced. The conversion of these cells exceeded 25%, the company said. Spread across 800 mu in Jiuquan Economic and Technological Development Zone, the facility has an investment of RMB 4.1 billion ($0.59 billion). This 4.8 GW is the first phase of the facility. Last year, Golden Photovoltaic had raised funds to the tune of RMB 49 million to build this facility (see Golden Photovoltaic receives RMB 49 million).

Tongwei’s Q1/2023 performance report released: Announcing its performance report for the first quarter of 2023, Chinese integrated solar PV manufacturer  Tongwei Solar said that it has achieved an operating income of RMB 33.2 billion ($4.80 billion), a year-on-year increase of 34.67%; and a net profit of RMB 8.6 billion ($1.2 billion), a year-on-year increase of 65.59%. Well known as the globally leading silicon supplier to the solar industry and a premium cell manufacturing, the company is now quickly expanding into the module segment. Presenting at a TaiyangNews event for the 1st time was Tongwei Solar whose Module Product Development Department Head Jason Xia discussed module innovations from the world’s largest silicon and cell manufacturer. Xia revealed massive manufacturing capacity expansion plans from Tongwei across the value chain as it targets up to 1000 kT polysilicon, 150 GW cell and over 80 GW module capacity by 2026. Its annual production capacity for polysilicon at the end of 2021 was 180 kT, for solar cells it was 45 GW and for modules it stood at 7.2 GW (see Exciting Updates Reported At TaiyangNews Innovations 2023 Conference).

Zhitong Energy & Shengda Photoelectric partner for 6 GW TOPCon facility: Solar photovoltaic modules seller said via WeChat that it held the signing ceremony for a 6 GW TOPCon high-efficiency photovoltaic module facility in Lanshan. This facility is a joint venture between the company and Shengda Photoelectric Technology, who is a producer of solar photovoltaic products. Spread across 140 mu, the facility has an investment of RMB 1.1 billion ($0.16 billion) and will have 6 TOPCon production lines, with an annual estimated output of RMB 2 billion ($0.29 billion).
