Aiko Solar plans to expand solar cell production: Aiko Solar announced its intention to sign an investment framework agreement for a solar cell production project with the Zhuhai Municipal Government. With this agreement, the Chinese solar cell producer will be investing in the construction of a 26 GW new high-efficiency solar cell production project in Zhuhai City. With a construction period of five years, the total investment for the project is expected to be RMB 18 billion ($2.78 billion), including working capital. This project will be constructed in phases.

Besides this, the company made two other announcements:

• One was a proposal on investing in the construction of a high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell production project with an annual output of 6.5 GW in Zhuhai
• Second was a proposal to invest in the first phase of the 2 GW production project of the Yiwu 10 GW high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell production project

Meanwhile, at a TaiyangNews Virtual Conference, Aiko Solar’s Senior Overseas Sales Director Vincent Lau discussed on how to tweak PERC cell technology for high bifacial yields (see How to Tweak PERC Cell Technology for High Bifacial Yields)

 LONGi announces latest silicon wafer price: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV manufacturer LONGi updated the quotations for monocrystalline silicon wafers. The latest quotation rates P-type M10 at RMB 4.86/piece ($0.75/piece), P-type M6 at RMB 4/piece ($0.62/piece), and the P-type 158.75/223mm at RMB 3.9 CNY/piece ($0.6/piece), which is the same as the prices released by LONGi earlier this month (see China PV News Snippets: CSG, GCL, TBEA, LONGi, Shuangliang)

Huasun Energy HJT Cell & Module project put into production: Chinese solar panel manufacturer Huasun Energy held the commissioning ceremony of its Heterojunction Cell and Module Production Project at Xuancheng City in Anhui Province. The company also announced that the project has officially been put into production and that the first batch of heterojunction modules have been shipped. Now, Huasun Energy will begin the construction of the second phase of the 2 GW cell and module production project. The company want to expand to at least 10 GW of production capacity in Xuancheng during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. For more details on Huasun new factory, see HJT Fully Made in China.
