China Power to build 1 GW integrated solar-wind-hydrogen facility in Shangsi: Shangsi County announced that China Resources Power will invest RMB 7.5 billion ($1.16 billion) to establish a 1 GW integrated base for wind and solar hydrogen storage in Shangsi County, Guangxi Province. The base will mainly have a wind power project with a capacity of 400 MW, a PV project with a planned capacity of 500 MW, and an energy storage project with a planned supporting energy storage capacity of approximately 100 MW. It will also include distributed photovoltaics, integrated energy services, and hydrogen energy industries.

Xinjiang’s cumulative installed PV capacity exceeds 12 GW: From January to April 2021, the total power generation of Xinjiang power grid dispatching caliber was 131.08 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 17.5%, Xinjiang said in an announcement. Of this, the photovoltaic power generation was 5.57 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%, accounting for 4.3% of the total power generation.  By the end of April 2021, Xinjiang power grid dispatching caliber installed capacity touched 103.96 million kW. Of this, photovoltaic power generation installed capacity was 12.06 million kW, accounting for 11.6% of the total installed capacity.

Trina’s Vietnam base puts 210 cells and modules into production: Chinese solar module manufacturer Trina Solar’s overseas manufacturing base of 210 cells and modules in Taiyuan, Vietnam was officially put into production. Currently, Trina Solar’s 210 Vertex cell and module production capacity covers Changzhou, Yancheng, Suqian, Yiwu, Vietnam and other places. By the end of 2021, the company’s global 210 module production capacity is expected to exceed 50 GW. At the recently held TaiyangNews Very High Power Solar Modules Virtual Conference, Head of Global Presales Team at Trina Solar, Yaodi Liu had spoken about the 600W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance launched in July 2020 and how it has now more than 74 members from across the industry chain, including inverters makers and tracker suppliers. He also provided latest product details of its 210 mm based modules (see  Day 2: TaiyangNews Very High-Power Solar Modules Conference).

Shangji & Xinjiang GCL sign polysilicon purchase order of RMB 5.084 bn: Shangji Automation issued an announcement stating that Hongyuan New Materials, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, and Xinjiang GCL, a subsidiary of GCL-Poly, have signed a 31,000-ton polysilicon material procurement contract from June 2021 to December 2023. As per the latest price calculations published by PVInfoLink, the contract amount is estimated to be approximately RMB 5.084 billion ($0.79 billion) (tax included) for 2021-2023.

Jolywood & SPIC partner for PV generation projects: Bifacial solar cell and module manufacturer Jolywood and State Power Investment Corporation Inner Mongolia Energy Co., Ltd. held an exchange meeting on the development and construction of photovoltaic power generation and smart energy projects. The joint cooperation between the two parties is an important measure to actively respond to the national energy conversion call.
