JA Solar Planning 20 GW Monocrystalline Pull Rod & Slicing Project; Shanghai Electric Signs Up JinkoSolar & Sungrow For 900 MW Project

JA Solar to invest in crystal growth and slicing project: JA Solar plans to invest in a 20 GW monocrystalline crystal growth and slicing project for an investment of RMB 5.8 billion ($836 million) in Qujing Economic and Technological Development Zone. This it said will further expand the company’s production capacity and increase the competitiveness of its products in the market. The investment is in sync with the company’s strategic needs for future capacity. The company signed an investment framework agreement with the Qujing Municipal Government and the Qujing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee to take it forward.

JinkoSolar modules for MBR Solar Park Phase V: JinkoSolar has been selected by Chinese EPC contractor Shanghai Electric to supply its high efficiency Swan solar bifacial solar modules for 1 GW capacity at Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park (MBR Solar Park) phase V in Dubai. The 2 signed a module supply agreement recently, announced local media. On the occasion, the 2 companies also announced an in-depth strategic cooperation to jointly bid for development, investment and construction of PV projects in the overseas market. “The Dubai project will effectively ensure the timely delivery of the project with high-quality Swan products. At the same time, we look forward to exploring more new business cooperation spaces based on the signing of the strategy of cooperation, deepening global market cooperation and creating Chinese value for the global photovoltaic industry,” said JinkoSolar’s CEO Li Xiande.

At the same time, Shanghai Electric also announced Sungrow as the preferred solar PV inverter supplier for the same project. Sungrow will supply its 1,500V centralized solution SG6250HV-MV for the 900 MW capacity. The agreement with Sungrow was followed by a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement for PV and storage projects in domestic and overseas markets.

The MBR Solar Park phase V is being developed by ACWA Power that earlier said it plans to use bifacial solar panels for the 900 MW solar project whose contract it won from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) (see Shanghai Electric Bags MBR Solar Park Phase-V Contract).

120 MW fishery and solar PV project: Huaneng Group’s Shandong Branch and Huanggang Municipal Government of Hubei province will be developing a 120 MW fishery-solar PV power project for a total investment of RMB 420 million ($60 million). The 2 entered a strategic cooperation framework agreement for this project. Project will come up in Yuanjiapu and Hejialou villages around Zhaojiatan in Hangzhou district, the company said.
