JinkoSolar to deliver DC-coupled storage system to West Africa: In an announcement, module supplier JinkoSolar Holding said that it will deliver a 1.2 MWh energy storage system to West Africa. This is a new solution the company will be offering in the African market and includes integrating batteries, Power Conditioning System (PCS), DC modular, switch cabinets, EMS software. This all-in-one, fully integrated modular and compact solution, the company said, minimizes complexity of deployment activities, and delivers the lowest lifecycle costs.

Trina Solar’s Vertex 670 W modules shipped: Trina Solar’s Vertex 670 W modules are being shipped to solar project sites in Dachaidan, Qinghai, according to the Chinese solar module manufacturer. Owned by the Concord New Energy Group Limited, the projects completely adopt Trina Solar’s 670 W ultra-high power modules. The shipments are expected to be completed by the end of August, with a total capacity of 112 MW.  In March, Trina had launched the newest version of its ultra-high power Vertex solar module series, with a power output of 670W (see Trina Solar Launches 670W Vertex Solar Module Series).

East Hope PV project to begin construction: Chinese polysilicon producer East Hope’s Ningxia New Energy Photovoltaic New Material Construction Project is planned to start construction on July 1, and scheduled to be put into operation by October 2022, as per a Photovoltaic Network News report. East Hope plans to build this new energy photovoltaic new material circular economy and industrial development cluster, with a total investment of RMB 30 billion ($4.63 billion). The project will include building upstream and downstream integrated industries such as photovoltaic new materials, new energy, and modern agriculture. According to Bernreuter Research, the project will have 250,000 tons capacity. In June 2020, Chinese East Hope Group was reported to have plans to develop a solar PV module production facility with 10 GW annual capacity in Mianchi County of Sanmenxia City in China (see 10 GW Solar Module Production Plans In China).

Silicon market stabilizes after SNEC 2021: After SNEC trade fair in early June, the price of overall silicon material has temporarily stabilized between RMB 200-210/kg ($30.88 – $32.43/kg), a news report said. In the first months of 2021, the silicon prices had increased rapidly, and owing to this price hike and uncertainty in Chinese market demand, module manufacturers had reduced their production in May-June while inventories has increased (see High Prices Leading To Solar PV Product Inventory Piling Up).
