Lijiang LONGi now wholly-owned subsidiary of LONGi: Lijiang LONGi Silicon Materials Co., Ltd. was established in 2016 with a capital of RMB 480 million from LONGi, RMB 120 million from Sichuan Yongxiang Co., Ltd., and RMB 200 million from Trina Solar. The company is into semiconductor materials and solar cells. After Sichuan Yongxiang and Trina Solar decided to withdraw, they paved the way for Lijiang LONGi to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of LONGi.

Zhonghuan Semiconductor launches initiative to reduce thickness of silicon wafers: As per a Photovoltaic Network News report, Chinese solar wafer manufacturer Zhonghuan Semiconductor has issued a proposal for technological innovation and product specification innovation to reduce the cost of silicon materials. To cope with the rising price of polysilicon, the company plans to ease the cost pressure of downstream cell and module customers by reducing the thickness of silicon wafers. The company also added that its Industry 4.0 Slicing Plant has an ultra-thin silicon wafer production process that can help expand slicing production capacity of monocrystalline silicon wafers and contribute to reducing costs.

First batch of Chint’s 51.5 MW PV Poland power plants connected to grid: In an announcement, Chint Solar said that the first batch of its 51.5 MW PV power stations in Poland has been successfully connected to the grid. The entire project will be completed and connected to the grid in the next 3-4 months. This PV project is considered important for Chint Solar’s overseas business development in Europe, as it had helped the company establish a foundation in Poland and even in the Central and Eastern European markets. Last year, Chint had announced a joint venture with Germany’s Goldbeck Solar to offer operation and maintenance (O&M) services to the Dutch market, catering to projects developed or built by either of the 2 companies or even 3rd party projects (see China PV News Snippets: Risen, Energy China, Chint Solar)

Trina Solar discusses development plans with Jiangsu party members: Recently, Jiangsu Provincial Party members and government representatives visited Trina Solar’s Changzhou headquarters to discuss the company’s development plans. Gao Jifan, Chairman and General Manager of Trina Solar, showed them the factory and said that the photovoltaic industry has entered the era of parity grid access. He emphasized that Trina Solar is majorly involved in the open innovation ecological alliance, a concerted effort from several companies in the field of solar PV, among them several market leaders, to steer the industry towards 210mm wafer based 600W+ solar module technology adoption while covering silicon wafers, battery modules, systems, certification and other fields (see 39 PV Firms Back 600 W+ Solar PV Modules). In the next 5 years, the alliance is expected to achieve 250 GW growth, he added, while backed with good financials, Trina alone is looking to expand to 50 GW module capacity by end of this year (see Trina Solar Improved 2020 Net Income By Over 92% YoY).
