Canadian Solar forecasts over 100% rise in net profits for 9M 2023: Solar PV manufacturer Canadian Solar has forecast its net profit for the first 3 quarters of 2023 to come in between RMB 2.33 billion to RMB 2.83 billion, a year-on-year increase of 104%-148%. The company attributes this strong net profit growth to, among other things:

  • The reduction in input and shipping costs, increased shipments and a significant increase in the company’s gross margins.
  • The emergence of solar PV cost-effective and energy competitive renewable source of energy.
  • The debottlenecking of the solar value chain right from the supply of silicon.

In Q2 2023, Canadian Solar had met its revenue and shipment guidance, shipping 8.2 GW of modules (see CSIQ Meets Q2/2023 Shipment & Revenue Guidance).

Dali Huasun high-efficiency HJT cell fab starts production: Heterojunction (HJT) solar PV manufacturer Huasun has announced that it has officially started operations at Phase I of the high-efficiency HJT cell fab at its Dali base. Touted as the first 5 GW high-efficiency HJT manufacturing facility in Yunnan Province, the 2.5 GW Phase I of Dali Huasun HJT Cell and Module Manufacturing fab will mainly produce 210 bifacial HJT cells and modules. The champion cell from the first batch produced at the fab reached an efficiency of 25.69%, while the average efficiency in mass production is expected to reach 25.5%. In March of this year, Huasun Energy had reported that its Dali Huasun 2.5 GW high efficiency HJT facility Phase 1 had produced its first module (see China PV News Snippets).

DR Solar starts construction on 5 GW high-efficiency PV module facility: Solar production equipment manufacturer turned solar PV manufacturer DR Solar has announced that it has started construction on a 5 GW high-efficiency PV module production facility. The company plans to invest RMB 2 billion ($274 million) in this facility, which is to be built in 2 phases. Phase I, involving RMB 1.5 billion (205.5 million) of the total, will consist of a 3 GW high-efficiency PV module fab and is expected to generate RMB 5.1 billion ($698.8 million) in annual revenues. The 2 GW second phase, involving RMB 500 million ($68.5 million) in investment, is expected to generate RMB 3.4 billion ($465.9 million) in annual revenues.

DMEGC Solar’s 1st n-type TOPCon high-efficiency cell production base starts operations: Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer DMEGC solar has announced that it has officially commissioned its TOPCon high-efficiency cell manufacturing base in Yibin City. Labeling it the city’s first fully intelligent, digital 5G future factory, this is DMEGC Solar’s first PV cell production base outside the province, and also the first n-type TOPCon high-efficiency cell production base. DMEGC Solar currently has 5 major production bases in Hengdian, Qixian, Sihong, Yibin, and Lianyungang, with a production capacity of 14 GW of cells and 12 GW of modules, with its global cumulative shipments exceeding 30 GW. In September of this year, DMEGC Solar had announced the rollout of its 1st module from the Lianyungang 5 GW high-efficiency module fab (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
