China installs 48.31 GW new solar in 4M/2023, says NEA: Releasing the national power industry statistics on its website for the period from January to April 2023, National Energy Administration (NEA) of China gave out the following details:

  • China has installed 48.31 GW of new solar in the first four months of 2023. This takes China’s cumulative installed solar power generation capacity to 440 GW, a year-on-year increase of 36.6%. As of the end of April, China’s cumulative installed power generation capacity was about 2.65 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%.
  • From January to April, the cumulative average utilization of power generation equipment across the country was 1145 hours, a decrease of 31 hours compared with the same period of the previous year. Among them, solar power generation was 415 hours, 17 hours less than the same period last year.
  • From January to April, the investment in power projects of major power generation enterprises across the country was RMB 180.2 billion ($25.6 billion), a year-on-year increase of 53.6%. Among them, solar power generation was RMB 74.3 billion ($10.5 billion), a year-on-year increase of 156.3%.

Earlier this month, NEA had announced that China’s 33.66 GW new solar capacity installed in Q1/2023 was led by Henan region (see China PV News Snippets)

Huasun’s HJT facilities in Xuancheng make progress: Over WeChat, Chinese solar panel manufacturer Huasun Energy said that the third phase of its high efficiency heterojunction facility in Xuancheng has been put into operation, the fifth phase has commenced, and the signing ceremony of a second facility of 10 GW has taken place. Spread across 703 mu, the 10 GW facility has an investment is RMB 11 billion ($1.56 billion). By 2025, Huasun is expected to have over 20 GW heterojunction production capacity in Xuancheng, and the total annual output value may exceed RMB 45 billion ($6.4 billion).

DAS Solar PV lab wins CNAS accreditation certificate: Chinese solar PV module and cell supplier DAS Solar said via WeChat that it has unveiled its national CNAS accredited photovoltaic laboratory. For the CNAS review, experts conducted a detailed review of the testing items declared by DAS Solar Photovoltaic Laboratory in terms of authorization, equipment, process supervision, personnel capabilities, original records, test certificates, and test reports. The expert group also conducted a strict on-site assessment of all declared projects, and came to this conclusion that the details declared by DAS Solar Photovoltaic Laboratory indeed meet the requirements of national standards such as CNAS-CL01:2018 and CNAS-CL01-A021:2019. Endorsing and affirming the quality management system and daily business run by the Photovoltaic Laboratory, DAS Solar was awarded the CNAS laboratory accreditation certificate (certificate number: CNAS L18259). This signifies that DAS Solar’s photovoltaic laboratory management and technical capabilities have reached the international advanced level.
