Autowell’s expanding international footprint: In a press release, Autowell Zhiyuan has highlighted its efforts to significantly expand its global presence throughout 2023. Operating in the field of laminator research and development, the company shipped a double-layer single-chamber laminator to Slovenia in June 2023 which boasts a production yield of over 99%. ATW says that 2 of its fully automated laminators were also deployed in South Carolina, USA, which are specifically designed for large-sized Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) modules. The company customizes laminators for various module types. Its recently inaugurated laminator at the KINGSOL New Energy Industry Base in Jiujang features a double-layer double-chamber structure and automatic loading and unloading table, integrating independent heating and vacuum systems for each section.

Huasun commissions 5 GW high-efficiency HJT cell & module fab: Solar panel manufacturer Huasun has officially commissioned the 5 GW high-efficiency HJT cell and module facility at its Hefei base. The company says that the facility integrates optimized double-sided microcrystalline, screen printing and other processes on the cell side to deliver an average mass production efficiency of over 25.5% at the cell level. At the module level, the company uses technologies such as SMBB, optical transfer film, and butyl rubber, helping the modules deliver over 640 W of power with an average conversion efficiency of over 23.5%.

Akcome plans to invest in perovskite-HJT tandem cell R&D: Solar cell and module manufacturer Akcome Technology has signed a framework agreement with the Hangzhou Qianjiang Economic Development Zone Management Committee. According to the agreement, the company plans to invest in a heterojunction (HJT) perovskite tandem cell research and production facility in the Hangzhou Qianjiang Economic Development Zone. The company plans to invest a total of RMB 1 billion ($140.2 million) in 3 phases. The 1st phase will involve an investment of about RMB 150 million ($21 million) to rent approximately 3,000 sq. m. of space to build a tandem cell production R&D laboratory base. The 2nd phase will see an investment of RMB 250 million ($35 million) in the construction of the pilot line. The RMB 600 million ($84.1 million) 3rd phase will involve the construction of the 1st mass production line.

Last month, Akcome announced its plans to expand production capacity with a 4.6 GW HJT solar cell facility (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Mellow Energy’s 30 cm × 30 cm perovskite module hits 22.86% conversion efficiency: PV energy application development company Mellow Energy has announced via WeChat that its 30 cm × 30 cm large-size perovskite photovoltaic module has achieved a conversion efficiency of 22.86%. Certified by the China National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center, the company says that this is the world’s highest conversion efficiency for large-area perovskite modules. It had previously achieved conversion efficiencies of 20.79% and 21.50% in June and August 2023, respectively. The company has laid a technical foundation for the completion of a 100 MW production line in 2024.

Huamin subsidiary installs 1st batch of monocrystalline furnaces: Honsun Solar, a wafer manufacturing subsidiary of Hunan Huamin, has announced the start of the 2nd phase of its 720-unit monocrystalline furnace. The company said that the 1st batch of equipment for its high-efficiency n-type monocrystalline silicon ingot & wafer facility has arrived and is set for ignition and production on January 12, 2024.
