Canadian Solar wins ‘Top Brand PV’ Award: Solar PV manufacturer Canadian Solar has announced that it has won the 2024 USA ‘Top Brand PV’ award from EUPD Research. The award ceremony was held at the RE+ Northeast trade show in Boston, Massachusetts. The company said that this award symbolizes its reliability and trust within target customer groups and among business partners.

DAS Solar, EGing PV and GCL Si win China Southern Power Grid bid: China Southern Power Grid has announced the winners of its 2023 crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules tender. DAS Solar won the bid for section 1, with a winning price of RMB 356.8 million ($49.6 million) and a winning unit price of RMB 0.892 /W ($0.12/W). EGing PV won the bid for section 2, with a winning price of RMB 441.5 million and a winning unit price of RMB 0.883 /W. GCL Si won the bid for section 3, with a winning price of RMB 449.5 million and a winning unit price of RMB 0.899 /W ($0.13/W).
According to the announcement, the total bidding capacity is 1.4 GW, divided into 3 bidding packages. The standard package 1 is about 400 MW, and 500 MW each for packages 2 and 3. The bid stipulates that package 1 is to be delivered by Q2 2024, with packages 2 and 3 to be delivered within 2024. In terms of module types, it breaks down into 560 MW for monofacial modules and 840 MW for n-type bifacial modules.
Arctech Solar to establish new energy headquarters industrial park: Solar tracker and installation solutions provider Arctech Solar has announced that it has signed an agreement build a new energy headquarters industrial park. It will be located in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, with a total investment of RMB 4 billion ($556 million). The industrial park is expected to generate revenues of about RMB 30 billion ($4.17 billion) within 3 to 5 years of going online. The company says that it aims to achieve revenues of RMB 60 billion ($9.34 billion) within 10 years, while establishing 1 to 2 publicly listed companies within 5 to 10 years.
In December 2023, Arctech signed a strategic cooperation agreement with green energy solutions provider Yingli Solar (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Zhuosen New Energy plans to build TOPCon solar cell & module fab: According to the Ecological Environment Bureau of Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province, Zhuosen New Energy has submitted an environmental impact assessment pre-approval for its proposed solar cell and module production project in Nanchang County. The company plans to invest RMB 4 billion ($556 million), aiming to build a facility with an annual capacity of 3 GW TOPCon solar cells and 6 GW of modules.
Sichuan Road & Bridge Group plans to build 680 MW PV project: Sichuan Road & Bridge Group Co., Ltd. has announced that it plans to invest in the construction of solar power projects. The company plans to invest RMB 3.739 billion ($519.7 million) in the project that includes 2 photovoltaic plots #3 and #7 in Yanyuan County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The 680 MW project is expected to be completed in 18 months, and expected to operate for a duration of 25 years. The project will be supported by a 68 MW/136 MWh energy storage system that will be constructed simultaneously.
