LONGi to supply 45 MW Hi-MO 7 modules to Vietnam; GCL Perovskite achieves 19.04% efficiency with 2×2 m module; Lingda Group delays 20 GW solar cell production; Conyu Technology launches Phase I of 100 GW PV quartz crucible; CPIA releases China PV industry roadmap for 2024-2030.

LONGi to supply 45 MW Hi-MO 7 modules to Vietnam: LONGi has signed a 45 MW Hi-MO 7 supply agreement with DAT Group and SPower in Ho Chi Minh City. The Hi-MO 7 module is based on LONGi's high-efficiency HPBC cell technology. It features improved conversion efficiency, power temperature coefficient, and enhanced reliability. The company stated that this collaboration would further accelerate Vietnam's energy structure transition towards green and sustainable directions, supporting Vietnam's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. LONGi introduced SPower as a leading solar power project developer and investor in Vietnam, with DAT Group being an important partner of LONGi in Vietnam.

LONGi recently unveiled its Hi-MO X6 dual-glass module for use in high-temperature and high-humidity environments (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

GCL Perovskite's 2 sq. m. perovskite module achieves 19.04% efficiency: GCL Perovskite has announced that its 2 sq. m. (1 m x 2 m) full-size perovskite single-junction module has achieved a steady-state efficiency of 19.04%. The company says this new world record has been certified by China's National Institute of Metrology. The module features a maximum power of 380.8 W, with an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 220 V and a short-circuit current of 2.329 A.

In December 2023, GCL announced that its perovskite laminated module had achieved an efficiency of 26.34% @2048cm² (36.9 cm x 55.5 cm) (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Lingda Group's 20 GW solar cell production plans delayed: Solar power generation company Lingda Group has announced a delay in the start of production at Phase I of its 20 GW high-efficiency solar cell production base in Tongling City, Anhui Province. Originally planned to reach full production in June of 2024, the company has not provided a specific timeline for the start of operations. The facility is being constructed in 2 phases for a total investment of RMB 9.15 billion ($1.27 billion). The company plans 10 GW of TOPCon cell manufacturing capacity for Phase I, and 5 GW each of TOPCon and HJT cell capacity for Phase II.

Conyu Technology ignites 100 GW PV quartz crucible Phase I: Conyu Technology's Sichuan subsidiary Conyu Green Energy has fired up Phase I of its 100 GW PV quartz crucible. The company has invested about RMB 5 billion ($694 million) in the facility located in Yibin City, Sichuan Province. To be constructed in 3 phases with capacities of 30 GW, 30 GW, and 40 GW, respectively, the factory is planned to hit a capacity of 100 GW, producing 200,000 annually.

CPIA releases China PV 2024 industry development roadmap: The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) has released the roadmap for China's PV industry for 2024-2030. Summarizing the development of the PV industry in 2023, it said the average mass production efficiency of China's main solar cells was 23.4% for PERC cells, 25% for TOPCon cells, and 25.2% for HJT cells. It projects that the average efficiency of these solar cells will reach 23.7%, 26% and 26.4% for the 3 cell types, respectively, by 2025. In terms of market share, PERC cells accounted for 73% in 2023, while TOPCon cells accounted for 23%. TOPCon, however, is expected to rapidly increase its market share to over 60% by the end of 2024.
