JA Solar to present at TaiyangNews Virtual Conference; LONGi signs silicon deal with GCL Tech; BSI's ISO 37301:2021 certification for Trina; Astronergy WTDP certified; Tongwei's 182-72 TNC module hits 613.2W; DAS Solar launches PV-LIMS; China's PV utilization rate below 95%.

JA Solar to present at TaiyangNews Virtual Conference: Xueshan Yang, Product Manager at JA Solar, will be taking part in TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on Solar Power Plant Developments 2024, scheduled to take place on April 10, 2024, from 09:30 – 13:00 CET. She will be speaking on the topic: Trends in Advanced PV Module Design and Customer Value Analysis.

LONGi to buy 425,000 tons of granular silicon from GCL Technology: Global polysilicon supplier GCL Tech has announced that its subsidiary has signed a long-term purchase agreement with LONGi. As part of the contract, LONGi will purchase 425,000 tons of polycrystalline silicon (granular silicon) from GCL's wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangsu Zhongneng Silicon over a period of 3 years. The volume of purchase will be 125,000 tons in 2024, 150,000 tons in 2025, and 150,000 tons in 2026, with an allowable fluctuation of 10% in actual purchase volumes.

LONGi recently announced its plans to cut its global workforce by 5% as the PV industry faces a competitive environment (see World's Largest Solar Manufacturer Consolidating Workforce).

Trina Solar gets ISO 37301:2021 compliance management system certification: Trina Solar has announced that it has received the ISO 37301:2021 compliance management system certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI). The company stressed that all its overseas subsidiaries need to adhere to their local regulations. Alongside ISO 37301:2021, Trina Solar holds certifications in information security, occupational health and safety, energy management, and environmental management, demonstrating its comprehensive approach to quality and compliance standards.

Last month, Trina Solar announced a deal with MINGR subsidiary Lunisolar, for the purchase of 1.3 billion pieces of 210 TOPCon bifacial solar cells (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Astronergy gets WTDP Certification from UL Solutions: Solar module manufacturer Astronergy has announced that it has received the UL Witness Test Data Program (WTDP) certificate from UL Solutions. The company says that its PV Testing Center, established in 2016, is able to carry out more than 30 types of tests to ensure the effective operation of PV modules under all kinds of harsh conditions before mass production. The lab also has been certified as a CNAS Accredited Laboratory, a CTC Accredited Laboratory, and a TÜV Rheinland Witness Test Laboratory. The company says that the WTDP certification will significantly reduce sample shipment costs, testing wait time, and other relevant problems, thereby shortening product testing cycles, enhancing testing efficiency, accelerating new product launches, and facilitating rapid entry into target markets.

Tongwei's 182-72 TNC module achieves 613.2 W power at 23.74% efficiency: Vertically integrated solar PV manufacturer Tongwei Solar has announced that its 182-72 version TNC module achieved a module front power of 613.2 W. The module, measuring the standard size of 2278 mm × 1134 mm, was tested by TÜV Rheinland. It says that the TNC module produced about 20 W more power than a commercially available module of the same. It also delivered a conversion efficiency of 23.74%.

DAS Solar launches PV-LIMS: Solar cell and module supplier DAS Solar has launched the Photovoltaic Laboratory Intelligent Management System (PV-LIMS) in cooperation with China Inspection Group (CTC). The LIMS system is an information management tool that combines data-centric information technology with laboratory management needs. DAS Solar states that its LIMS system ensures data security and reliability through intelligent data statistics and online monitoring, optimizing task handling, and achieving full-process management. The system aims to achieve intelligent, scientific, and integrated management of laboratory operations, enhancing operational efficiency and academic standards.

DAS Solar announced last month that its new DAON rectangular module has been awarded UL 61215 and 61730 certifications (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

China's PV utilization rate falls below 95%: A recent report from China's National New Energy Consumption Monitoring and Early Warning Center has stated that the country's PV electricity utilization rate was 93.4% for February 2024. A 4.7% decrease from January 2024, this is said to be the first time that China's PV utilization rate has fallen below 95% since 2021. The report says that this is as a result of the country's new installed capacity 'far exceeding expectations.' It forecasts further that this could remain the case for 2024, with the overall utilization falling to about 90% by 2030.
